This was my second visit to Table Mesa and for a Friday night the place was around 60% capacity. Everyone talks about how important it is to see downtown Bentonville thrive yet only a handful of people actually frequent these businesses (Java on the square is the most recent casualty).

They have a great thing going here with excellent food at affordable prices. On this visit we were joined by another couple and the food arrived within minutes after placing the order. My last visit I enjoyed the best Chili Relleno I have ever had and on this visit I had the slow roasted pork Carnitas (swine flu or not, just doing my part to support the pork industry). My wife ordered a Ceviche appetizer for her entree with lime marinated tuna, salmon, tomatoes, and watermelon over lettuce and avocado. This dish was phenomenal as were the "Cheap Dates" we had for an appetizer. Dates stuffed with Gorgonzola and wrapped in double smoked bacon then roasted OMG this was good. My slow roasted carnitas were well seasoned and fall apart tender served with black beans and rice. Our friends enjoyed the beef and crab meat enchiladas served with a pablano cheese sauce.

On a recent lunch trip I tried the Curry Chicken Burrito which is my new favorite at Table Mesa.

Give it a shot and let me know your thoughts.

Table Mesa Bistro on Urbanspoon

  1. I'm a regular at Table Mesa (usually for lunch) and have always had decent to pretty good service. Love the food (high on the list are the chicken nachos, curry chicken burrito, and fish tacos). Dinner visits always find me ordering the pomegranate sangria which is happiness in a glass. Love this place!

  2. My husband and I live in Bentonville and we both LOVE table Mesa. The cheese dip is amazing and I always love any dish I get!
    * True though, sometimes service it not the best*

  3. The Curry Burrito is a must try.

  4. We love Table Mesa! Especially their fish tacos.

  5. Table Mesa has managed to pull off the seemingly impossible by not only opening a restaurant on the Bentonville Square that is sur-viving; it is actually thriving. How is this possible?

First off, a truly talented restaurateur and not simply someone who "has always wanted to open a restaurant". There is a BIG difference!

Next is the ambiance. The feel you get from Table Mesa and especially at night, is very familiar if you are a fan of the gentrified urban renewal that has been going on for the past several decades. You get an very comfortable feel with the basic brick interior and being able to see outside facing the Square regardless of where you sit in the restaurant. Particularly charming feel in winter with the snow and lights.

The owner-Carl and his lovely wife make you feel at home instantly. The food is original and offers what many restaurants neglect these days which is a well thought out presentation of their plates. You could wear a suite or shorts and feel at home here.

The bar, although relatively small, is still a nice place to tuck into for a first date or catching up with a good friend over a glass of wine.

After 6pm there is absolutely no reason to be on the Square if not for Table Mesa and kudos for putting a great product in the market which makes this restaurant well worth the drive off the beaten path.
